Internship Big Data Returned full-time
Quick context: This was my Summer 2025 internship on the U.S. Data Security · Big Data Platform team. After the summer, I came back full-time on the same team — now under the TikTok USDS JV entity.

What I worked on

I worked on the team that owns and operates TikTok's U.S. big-data infrastructure — the Spark, ClickHouse, and Doris clusters that power analytics on the order of hundreds of petabytes. My summer was a deep dive into cluster operations, query performance, and the developer experience of running on top of these systems at scale.

  • Shadowed and contributed to live operations on the team's Spark / ClickHouse / Doris clusters.
  • Built tooling that reduced toil on routine cluster maintenance and made platform metrics easier to act on.
  • Wrote internal documentation and runbooks for the team's day-2 operations.
  • Earned a return offer and came back full-time in January.
